National Capital Optimist Club Essay Contest
The annual Optimist International essay contest gives young people the opportunity to write about the world in which they live. The approach can encompass their personal experience, the experience of their country or a historical perspective. In addition to developing skills for written expression, participants have the opportunity to win college scholarships!
NCOC awards a $500 college scholarship for 1st place, $200 for 2nd, and $100 for 3rd. Club winners advance to the District contest to compete for a $2,500 college scholarship! |
Topic for the 2022-23 school years is:
"Who is an Everyday Hero that Brings Out the Optimism in You?” Compose a 700-800 word essay around this central idea. The contest is open to contestants under the age of 19 as of October 1st of the current Optimist International contest year (October 1 – September 30) and who have not yet completed secondary school or its equivalent, There is no minimum age. |
