National Capital Optimist Club Essay Contest

,The annual Optimist International essay contest gives young people the opportunity to write about the world in which they live. The approach can encompass their personal experience, the experience of their country or a historical perspective. In addition to developing skills for written expression, participants  have the opportunity to win college scholarships!
 
NCOC  awards a $500 college scholarship for 1st place, $200 for 2nd, and $100 for 3rd. Club winners advance to the District contest to compete for a $2,500 college scholarship!  
Topic for the 2019-20 school years is:

 "Is Optimism the Key to Achieving the Dreams you iMagine?"

Compose a 700-800 word essay around this central idea.
​
Youth under the age of 19 as of October 1, 2019 (and is not enrolled as a degree seeking student of a post-secondary institution) in the United States, Canada or the Caribbean are encouraged to apply. There is no minimum age. 

How To Enter: Please submit an essay on the pre-assigned topic. Fill out an essay application form that you find here and include it with your submission.
